Football unites communities like no other sport. And now, the NFL Foundation Grassroots Grant 2025 is here to help nonprofits and schools nationwide transform worn-out football fields into vibrant, safe, and high-quality play spaces.
The NFL Foundation offers grants up to $250,000 designed to enhance football fields in communities that need it most. This funding supports everything from turf installation and lighting upgrades to bleachers and irrigation systems. Its mission is simple: promote health, engagement, and passion for football by creating fields where young athletes can thrive.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits providing youth or recreational services and middle or high schools in NFL target markets. Organizations must have operated for at least 3 years, employ at least one full-time staff member, and demonstrate experience managing recreation programs or facilities. While public agencies and large universities cannot apply directly, partnerships with nonprofits are encouraged.
Grant money can be spent on synthetic or natural turf upgrades, lighting enhancements, irrigation systems, bleachers, scoreboards, fencing, restrooms, and ADA accessibility improvements. The goal is to revitalize underused or deteriorated fields and ensure their long-term upkeep.
Applicants must provide matching funds on a dollar-for-dollar basis, reinforcing community investment and commitment.
Applicants should submit detailed proposals outlining community impact, partnerships, budgets, and maintenance plans.
Since 1998, the NFL Foundation has invested over $35 million in nearly 400 field projects, enhancing community sports opportunities nationwide. Improved fields mean more year-round practices, safer spaces, and stronger community bonds.
Empower your community with top-notch football facilities and keep the spirit of the game alive — one yard at a time! 🏈
